African Youth Coalition

Bridging all African Youth organizations

African Youth Coalition stands to be the umbrella of all African Diaspora Youth organizations. Based on the principles of pan -Africanism, we believe that building unity and a community for African young adults will allow us to collaborate and create a collective action that will not only make changes in the diaspora but in the African continent as well.  We believe that a single action can make a difference in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and outreach activities, our team works tirelessly each day to contribute their part to the greater good.

African Youth Coalition knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. In 2018, our Organization realized that by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, share resources and make a change.  And that is why we ultimately decided to launch the African Youth Coalition. Our coalition gathers African youth from various Seattle colleges and universities.

Our Work

Making A Difference

African Youth Coalition is in the business of changing and shaping lives. The work we aim, at providing a holistic approach to solving some of our society’s biggest challenges. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and communities. We accomplish this by hosting monthly events within various African community centres and with African organizations. Each month the topics are filled with different resources, our members can utilize to strengthen themselves and their communities.

July: AYC First social

Meet and Greet Social: Our first event to bring Africans together and introduce our organization. We were welcomed by board members from UW African Student Association,  Seattle U African Student Association, Seattle Central African Student Association,  Bellevue African Student Association and board members form the Seattle African Cup. Our social event was not only an introductory but it also allowed us to learn more about the community we serve and what they would like to see from AYC.

Tell Your Story

At African Youth Coalition, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. One of the reasons many of us feel disconnected is because we were never given the chance to share our stories. At this event, we partnered with the Somali community which allowed us to host our event and we discussed the importance of a story and how each of our different stories connects us to each other.

Voter Engagement

One of the core beliefs of Pan-Africanism lies in advocacy. With that, we hosted a voter engagement event, with sponsorship and support from Mother Africa and the East African Community Services to inform members of the importance of voting. We believe with access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfil their potential. We grow everyday, but true growth is a result of meeting people!! Africa Youth Coalition @africanyouthco has brought us together. I can't wait to see what we will achieve together
